Terri Diver

Spotlight Student, November 2019

November spotlight is shining on Terri this month because of her commitment to herself. Every morning 5:30am Monday through Friday, Terri shows up to class. Always smiling. If she can't make it in the morning, she finds a way to get to a night class. I remember when she first signed up, she was so unsure as to if this was for her but yet she came every morning still. She never gave up and really dedicated herself to giving these classes a fair shot for herself. Its been years, and she's still just as dedicated.

Not only has she formed a morning routine but she has also formed many friendships. She is so kind and always notices when someone has not been and worries and has reached out to them herself or will ask the instructor if all is ok. When new people come, she's one of the first to welcome them in. Terri is so inspiring and we are so lucky to have her around us!

In Her Words...

I have always lived a healthy lifestyle, but didn’t exercise much. When I was 34 I decided to start walking on an old dusty treadmill in my cellar (not a man cave) for 20 minutes each morning.  Slowly my stamina and speed increased. Eventually the treadmill was moved upstairs to my family room. Every morning I would walk/run for 45 minutes. Fast forward to 3 years ago. On warm summer days, I would take my walk outside. One hot August morning I was walking passed Studio Z 62 peeked in the window and recognized Tracy Brody. She was foolish enough to teach Zumba to first graders in the school I work at. I literally tripped through the front door. After a series of silly questions; “Just what is Zumba?, What kind of shoes do I need? Are there any special “Zumba steps”?, She talked me into giving it a try. So the next morning at 5:30 a.m. I arrived in my jogging shorts, (they were light purple) heavy running shoes, and a stained t-shirt. I can’t believe they let me in. Trust me, it wasn’t pretty. After a great deal of confusion and numerous missteps, I survived!! The girls were friendly and welcoming. I remember Sarah and Denise inviting me back. Tracy talked me into giving it a two week trial. The rest is history. I was hooked. Fast forward. Two weeks lead to three years. During this time I have realized that exercising is far more fun with friends and like minded people. Every morning is a new and different experience. The earlier bird crew have become my friends. We share laughs and I truly enjoy their company. If it weren’t for these gal pals and Tracy’s diverse, fun-filled, challenging classes I would be back on the treadmill (probably in the dusty basement again).

Thanks Studio Z 62 for enriching my life both socially and physically.

Each month on the 1st, we will spotlight a student.
There will be many reasons for us choosing our “Spotlight”.

We respect and value each of you and recognize how difficult
it can be to make fitness a priority in your busy lives.

We want you to feel our love and support always and know
that we are always proud of each and everyone of you!

We also want you to realize how important it is to take time
for yourself. We want you to truly love yourself and be proud
